Chief of Staff (Renewable Energy Development)

Piper Maddox is partnered with a leading utility-scale renewable energy developer seeking a highly organized and process-driven professional to support its development organization. This role will serve as the operational backbone of the development team, ensuring projects remain on schedule, stakeholders remain accountable, and critical development milestones are executed efficiently.

Our client has established itself as a significant player in the renewable energy sector, developing large-scale solar, storage, and energy infrastructure projects across the United States. As the company continues to expand its pipeline, they are looking for an individual who can bring structure, rigor, and coordination to a fast-paced development environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the central coordinator for the development team, tracking project milestones, deliverables, and action items across a portfolio of utility-scale energy projects.

  • Maintain development schedules, reporting systems, and project tracking tools to provide visibility into project status and upcoming priorities.

  • Coordinate with internal developers, consultants, engineers, environmental specialists, and external stakeholders to ensure deadlines and commitments are met.

  • Identify project risks, bottlenecks, missing deliverables, and schedule conflicts, escalating issues proactively and driving resolution.

  • Review permits, studies, consultant reports, and project documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with development objectives.

  • Support senior development leadership by ensuring projects are progressing according to established processes and development plans.

  • Facilitate communication across multiple workstreams, helping keep teams aligned and accountable throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Experience within utility-scale renewable energy development, ideally as a Development Manager, Associate Development Manager, Project Manager, or similar role.

  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project development processes, including permitting, environmental review, NEPA, and project milestone management.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable holding stakeholders accountable to commitments and deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a dynamic development environment.
