Piper Maddox is partnered with a well-renowned, global producer of renewable energy - including hydropower, wind power, solar power, gas-fired power and district heating. As the Portfolio Manager within the Origination Team, you will help build and maintain the company's power market portfolio, with a focus on PJM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quantitative and fundamental view of relevant environmental markets along the entire curve.
  • Optimize the value of the US portfolio in the long-/mid- and short-term markets via OTC and screen trading; develop trade recommendations that enhance portfolio returns.
  • Work closely with originators for new deal origination, structuring, and pricing.
  • Work closely with existing portfolio managers to identify all cross-commodity opportunities and risks.
  • Consistently improve modelling tools and optimization approach, actively shaping the set-up of portfolio management infrastructure and procedures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the Energy markets
  • Prior Trading experience with expertise in fundamental analysis, risk management, and market pricing.
  • Strong US Market knowledge inclusive of the PJM region.
  • Experience pricing structured, non-standard contracts in power markets. ​
  • Solid P&L experience from a trading background as this role will be looking at the markets, developing a point of view and assessing the company's VaR.
  • Experience managing Power Purchase Agreements and long-term contracts with a variety of customers and trading partners.

Energy Trader, Battery Energy Storage Systems

We are looking for a motivated Energy Trader, BESS to manage the scheduling and optimization of battery storage assets in the ERCOT market (with potential expansion to other ISOs).
