Development Manager - Renewable Energy

About the Opportunity

Piper Maddox is partnering with a leading U.S. renewable energy firm that is looking for a Development Manager to join their fast-growing team. With over 4 GW of owned clean energy assets and 6 GW under management, they are a driving force behind wind, solar, and storage growth nationwide.

As Development Manager, you'll take charge of utility-scale solar, wind, and storage projects from greenfield through to NTP, with a focus on the central and eastern U.S. regions. This is an opportunity to contribute to the buildout of a national pipeline while working alongside a deep bench of subject matter experts across finance, policy, real estate, permitting, and engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support project development across multiple stages: land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, community engagement, and financial modeling
  • Manage cross-functional teams and external consultants to drive timelines, budgets, and compliance
  • Represent projects at public meetings and with local stakeholders-building trust and securing long-term support
  • Evaluate M&A opportunities, support offtake analysis, and collaborate on PPA execution strategies
  • Contribute to development strategy, risk mitigation planning, and investment committee presentations

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in renewable energy project development experience
  • Proven success managing complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure projects
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; comfortable representing projects in public forums
  • Experience in MISO, PJM, or SERC is highly preferred
