Senior Asset Manager – BESS

An international renewable energy platform is looking for a Senior Asset Manager to take ownership of a growing portfolio of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets in Germany.

 

The successful candidate will sit across the technical, regulatory and commercial sides of the business, working closely with internal development and investment teams as well as TSOs, DNOs, regulatory bodies, optimisers, OEMs and other external partners.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own BESS performance management, KPI monitoring, SCADA/EMS reporting and resolution of operational issues.
  • Lead asset registration and grid onboarding, working directly with TSOs, DNOs and relevant stakeholders to bring BESS assets into operation.
  • Work with optimisers and route-to-market providers to maximise BESS revenues, with a strong understanding of revenue streams and ancillary markets.
  • Monitor German BESS regulations and market requirements, liaising with regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Manage OEM, O&M, warranty and service provider relationships across the operational lifecycle.
  • Monitor budgets, costs and commercial performance, providing regular asset reporting to senior management.

 

Candidate profile:

  • You may have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience managing utility-scale BESS, or similar power assets.
  • Strong operational and commercial experience with Germany energy markets and regulators, including exposure to ancillary services, and/or capacity mechanisms.
  • Experience interacting with SCADA/EMS platforms and data-analysis tools (PowerBI, SQL, Excel).
  • Demonstrated contract management and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with German service providers, TSOs/DSOs, and market counterparties.
