Piper Maddox are supporting a growth-stage renewable energy investor, developer and asset owner focused on the distributed generation market. The business is scaling rapidly and seeks a commercially minded CFO to build out and lead their finance function.

Rather than acting as a traditional developer, the company works alongside leading ESCOs, EPCs, developers, and multinational energy companies, allowing it to focus on what it does best: building strategic industry relationships, making disciplined investment decisions, and delivering operational excellence across its growing asset base. With over $700mm in assets and backed by a global investment powerhouse this is the opportunity to join an incredibly exciting platform during a period of huge growth.

What you will do:

  • Lead the execution of corporate and structured finance transactions and collaborate with the Project Finance team on the execution of project finance transactions.
  • Lead the execution and development of investment marketing materials, including but not limited to: Quarterly board presentations, investment memos, Portfolio CIMs, and financial models.
  • Oversee finance function (PF, FP&A, Accounting) building process, and success. You will be the primary finance voice to the Board, presenting financial performance, strategy, and key metrics with clarity and confidence. Strong communication skills and comfort presenting to senior stakeholders is a must.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting, audits, and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and investor requirements.

What you will have:

  • 10+ years working within renewable energy / infrastructure with a track record in closing high value financings with a focus on project based financings.
  • A background in distributed generation renewables is strongly preferred. Tax equity experience is essential; candidates who have leaned heavily into tax equity structuring and have direct closing experience will be the strongest fit.
  • The business is in a growth phase and this role requires someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and personally driving outcomes — not simply overseeing or delegating. A bias for action and direct involvement in transactions is critical.
  • Beyond project finance, broader exposure across capital formation, FP&A, or corporate finance leadership will be a meaningful advantage. The ability to operate across the full finance function.
