About the Company

Our client is a leading renewable energy investment and infrastructure platform managing a diverse portfolio of 1+ GW of assets across Europe and having deployed approximately €2B in renewable projects across solar, wind, and storage.

 

They act as a trusted advisor to institutional investors and are actively expanding their Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) platform, including both greenfield developments and acquisitions.

 

This is a unique opportunity to work on large-scale BESS projects across Europe, with exposure to both technical project delivery and investment decision-making.

 

Role Overview

The Senior Expert – BESS will be responsible for driving the execution of utility-scale battery storage projects, ensuring successful delivery while managing EPC contractors and supplier relationships. This role is central to the growth of the company’s BESS portfolio and combines hands-on construction supervision with strategic involvement in technical due diligence for new acquisitions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of large-scale BESS projects from design through commissioning

  • Manage and negotiate EPC contracts with contractors and suppliers

  • Oversee construction delivery, including site supervision, integration, and testing

  • Collaborate with grid operators, manufacturers, and EPC partners to ensure seamless system integration

  • Define and monitor quality assurance and system acceptance protocols

  • Support technical due diligence for acquisitions, ensuring risk mitigation and technical compliance

  • Conduct performance assessments and lifecycle analyses to optimise system efficiency

  • Liaise with investment and project teams to provide technical insight into ongoing and potential projects

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or related field

  • 4+ years’ experience in BESS projects, including design, construction, and commissioning

  • Strong hands-on experience with EPC contractor management and construction delivery

  • Proven knowledge of battery storage technologies and grid integration (Li-ion, LFP, NMC, hybrid)

  • Experience with SCADA systems and monitoring interfaces

  • Strong project management and communication skills

  • Fluent in English; German is desirable

  • Practical problem-solving mindset and ability to work across international teams

Following successful awards in the recent FER-X and MACSE auctions, this well-established and profitable platform is now strengthening its technical asset management function and is seeking a senior-level Asset Manager with strong experience across operational renewable energy assets. With 150MW already in operation, over 200MW of PV and close to 100MW of standalone BESS set to come online over the next 12 to 24 months, and a further 700MW of BESS at Ready-to-Build stage, this role offers direct involvement in one of the most active and strategically positioned growth platforms in the Italian market. Our client is able to contribute across project development, business decarbonization, as well as renewable energy consultations. This particular role would sit within their project development function where they are currently looking to bring a wide variety of services in-house rather than using external partners. This gives you a high level of influence and input over project strategy in your area of expertise. This company are currently working in an exciting joint venture to develop a number of utility scale solar projects from inception through to the ready to build stage to further our transition to a clean energy future. These projects are aimed around 20 acres in size and this company are looking to add a high volume of sites to their portfolio. Their joint venture partner is a leading international investor who are one of the most well established backers of major infrastructure projects. Their trust in our client means that you can rest assured you will see your projects come to fruition with stable funding in the background allowing you to really focus on your projects. They are looking to add an in-house Ecologist to their team who will play a crucial role in ensuring the development feasibility of their renewable portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for preliminary ecological assessments, biodiversity & habitat surveys, LVIA's, as well as attending public consultation events in the consenting process alongside the wider project development team. This role would be suitable for an experienced Ecologist to join up with an in-house team where you can be closer to the project. A background in consultancy would be preferred and this role would require someone with an autonomous spirit who is happy with frequent site visits across the UK.
