Piper Maddox has partnered with a leading owner and operator of distributed renewable energy assets to identify an Assistant Project Manager to join their growing team in Baltimore. The company develops, finances, and operates solar, battery, and microgrid projects across the United States, partnering with leading EPCs, developers, and energy companies to deliver high-quality, distributed generation infrastructure. With a portfolio of approximately 100 projects ranging from 300 kW to 50 MW and strong institutional backing, the company is entering an exciting growth phase in the distributed generation market.The team manages a diverse mix of projects, including community solar, behind-the-meter storage programs, and microgrid solutions, and works with a variety of channel partners—some pure developers, others EPCs, and some joint ventures. Employees enjoy a friendly environment where connections are encouraged both inside and outside the office through team events, happy hours, and other social activities.The Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of distributed generation solar and storage projects, working closely with senior project management and cross-functional teams. This role requires coordination with internal teams—including engineering, procurement, and project control—as well as external contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies. You will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while supporting the scaling of the company’s project management capability. This is a high-impact, high-visibility position offering significant autonomy, exposure to a growing portfolio of projects, and opportunities for professional development.Key Responsibilities Support project managers in overseeing multiple distributed generation solar and storage projects throughout the construction lifecycle.Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and deliverables from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout.Collaborate with EPC partners, developers, and internal teams to ensure alignment with project standards and objectives.Assist with contract administration, reporting, and progress tracking.Participate in site visits and project meetings to monitor performance and address issues.Identify, communicate, and mitigate project risks to senior leadership.Contribute to process improvements as the project management function grows. Qualifications 2–3 years of experience with an EPC or in project management within renewable energy or commercial construction.Experience in distributed generation or utility-scale solar projects preferred; residential-only solar experience is not ideal.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Experience managing the construction phase of commercial or energy projects.Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across teams.Familiarity with project management tools and construction scheduling software is beneficial.
