Senior Engineer - Wiring & Harness

Piper Maddox has been engaged on an exciting opportunity for a Senior Wiring & Harness Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team working on next-generation vehicle platforms. This role offers direct involvement in developing electrical harness systems across diesel, electric, hybrid, and autonomous vehicles - from concept to physical integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement 2D and 3D wiring harness designs using tools such as Saber and Creo
  • Translate system-level electrical schematics into detailed wiring layouts
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation, harness drawings, and design releases
  • Validate designs using engineering tools such as FMEA and DFA
  • Lead early-phase product development and guide CAD design execution
  • Focus on front chassis harnesses, integrating key components such as engine, powertrain, and cabin systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners throughout the development lifecycle

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in wiring harness design (Master's/PhD included)
  • Proven ability to design wiring systems from scratch, not just using templates
  • Prior experience with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier in automotive, commercial vehicle, military, or off-highway industries
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical schematics and system-level design
  • Proficiency in Saber, CATIA, or equivalent tools for wiring design
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or Electronic Engineering
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy-duty trucking
  • 3D routing experience using Creo
  • Master's degree in a related engineering discipline

Over the last 15 years, they've grown significantly, rapidly growing to be a large player in the development and construction of solar farms. They now boast a portfolio of over 7GW, and are aiming to increase this over coming years. They also have 70MW of projects in construction stages, with the connections varying from transmission and distribution level.As they're an IPP, they have multiple revenue streams, working on projects through development stages and selling at shovel ready state, as well as acquiring projects and managing through construction processes, as well as owning and operating sites. Your role will run through the full project lifecycle, giving you a varied role with lots of opportunities to develop skillsets.You'll be working alongside an industry leader with over a decade of experience within National Grid on a varied portfolio of projects. The portfolio of projects are all high voltage and large scale, with several being NSIP.
