Senior Project Manager

Utility-Scale Renewable Energy

A growing renewable energy company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead utility-scale renewable energy projects from late-stage development through construction, commissioning, and operational handoff. This individual will play a key role in delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while serving as the primary point of coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full project lifecycle from late-stage development through pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations.
  • Serve as the primary owner for project execution, maintaining accountability for schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall project performance.
  • Manage all aspects of EPC contractor relationships, including contractor selection support, commercial negotiations, contract administration, change orders, performance management, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate closely with development, engineering, procurement, legal, finance, environmental, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support procurement efforts for long-lead equipment and owner-furnished materials while partnering with internal supply chain teams.
  • Participate in engineering and constructability reviews, project optimization discussions, and commercial evaluations to ensure projects meet technical and financial objectives.
  • Support pre-construction planning activities, including permitting coordination, project readiness, risk assessments, and M&A technical due diligence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, regulatory agencies, EPC contractors, consultants, landowners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor construction progress, safety performance, quality standards, and project milestones (approximately two site visits per month).
  • Prepare executive-level reporting on project schedules, budgets, forecasts, commercial performance, and project risks while ensuring a seamless transition to long-term operations.

Preferred Background

  • 5+ years of project management experience within renewable energy, power generation, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects from development through construction and commercial operation.
  • Proven success managing third-party EPC contractors, including contract administration, commercial negotiations, schedule oversight, and change management.
  • Engineering background strongly preferred, combined with hands-on project management experience.
  • Experience working for renewable energy developers, IPPs, EPC contractors, or engineering organizations.
  • Renewable energy experience across utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, and/or wind projects.
  • Experience supporting projects ranging from approximately 50 MW to 1+ GW.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • PMP certification or similar project management credentials are considered a plus.
