Piper Maddox is partnering with a leading EV charging technology company to appoint a Head of AI to define and lead the company-wide AI strategy and roadmap. We are looking for someone with experience in smart charging and/or integrating energy management software into EV charging.

 

This is a unique opportunity to shape the AI strategy of a rapidly growing business at the forefront of electric mobility, developing AI-powered solutions that drive smarter, more efficient charging infrastructure.

 

The Role

This is a strategic leadership position for an experienced AI professional who is passionate about combining technical excellence with commercial impact. You will be responsible for driving innovation across machine learning, predictive analytics, optimisation and Generative AI to create intelligent solutions that deliver measurable value to customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the company-wide AI strategy and roadmap.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers.
  • Develop advanced predictive models, forecasting systems, and optimization algorithms for energy applications.
  • Drive the integration of Generative AI and Large Language Models into customer-facing and internal products.
  • Establish best practices for AI governance, model performance, data quality, and responsible AI.
  • Design and oversee scalable AI infrastructure and MLOps frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to translate business challenges into AI solutions.
  • Stay at the forefront of AI innovation and identify opportunities to create competitive advantages through emerging technologies.
  • Represent the company at industry events, partnerships, and discussions related to AI and energy innovation.

 

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or advanced analytics.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong expertise in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, cloud platforms, and modern AI architectures.
  • Experience with forecasting, optimization, time-series analysis, and predictive analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, and emerging AI technologies.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technical innovation into commercial impact.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
