Project Development Manager

Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000 base + bonus

Location: Flexible within Texas or East Coast (travel required)

Piper Maddox is partnered with a well-capitalized renewable energy platform focused on developing, owning, and operating utility-scale energy infrastructure across North America. The company is actively expanding its development portfolio and seeking a Project Development Manager to support project execution and market growth across a key strategic region.

This is a high-impact role responsible for leading utility-scale projects from origination through investment approval. The individual will work closely with senior leadership while coordinating cross-functional teams to advance projects through critical development milestones. The position offers significant ownership, visibility, and influence over project strategy and capital deployment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead utility-scale energy projects through the full development lifecycle, including site origination, land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and project advancement.
  • Manage project schedules, development budgets, risks, and key milestones to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, interconnection, finance, community engagement, and external consultants.
  • Negotiate and maintain relationships with landowners, local governments, utilities, and other key project stakeholders.
  • Drive investment approval processes by preparing project recommendations and presenting development updates to leadership.
  • Identify development risks and implement strategies to advance projects efficiently through the development pipeline.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, or power project development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects through the full development lifecycle from site selection through permitting and investment approvals.
  • Strong experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record managing project schedules, budgets, development risks, and project milestones.
  • Experience developing projects within major U.S. power markets such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, or CAISO preferred.
  • Battery energy storage development experience strongly preferred.

Interconnection Manager
