Role: High-Voltage Grid & Substation Engineer (m/f/d)

Location: Hamburg

Salary: Up to €80, 000 + bonus

 

On behalf of a renewable energy investor and developer, we are supporting the expansion of an in-house engineering team focused on utility-scale solar and grid infrastructure projects across Germany.

 

This position plays a key role in the planning and integration of high-voltage grid connections and substations. After onboarding, you will have up to 7 projects immediately available, and a wider pipeline of 30+ substations!

 

Position Overview:

You will be involved from early-stage engineering through to commissioning, taking ownership of the electrical design and technical coordination of grid connection & substation infrastructure.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engineering and design of HV grid connection & HV substations
  • Interfacing with transmission and distribution system operators to ensure full compliance with grid codes and technical requirements (incl. VDE-AR-N 4120)
  • Coordinating with external stakeholders
  • Developing and refining technical concepts to improve project execution and engineering efficiency
  • Managing technical changes throughout project delivery and supporting related contract variations
  • Performing grid studies such as load flow and short-circuit calculations using DIgSILENT PowerFactory

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Academic background in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline
  • Ideally from a renewables background ( e.g. solar/wind/BESS) or a grid operator (DSO/TSO)
  • Practical experience with high-voltage substations and grid connection projects
  • Confident user of CAD tools and DIgSILENT PowerFactory
  • Professional-level German and English
  • Analytical, structured, and self-driven working style
  • Strong communication skills and technical confidence
