Senior Development Manager - Solar & BESS Projects

 

London Office Location - Hybrid working pattern (3 days per week in office)

 

Salary Depending on Candidate Experience: £85,000 - 90,000 + wider package

 

Piper Maddox are partnered with an global industry leader in the renewable energy sector to grow their Project Development Capabilities in the UK. Our client has been at the forefront of the renewable energy for over a decade and have built up an excellent reputation as one of the largest and most successful players in the space.

 

This company are a fully fledged Independent Power Producer who focus on the development and delivery of utility scale Solar and Battery Storage projects. They have an excellent multi-GW development pipeline of projects as well as strong Gate2 notification results. They are in a position to now press on with their Greenfield development activity.

 

They are looking to hire a Senior Development Manager to their team who will take on a mix of project focused and leadership responsibilities. Strong applicants for this role will have 5 and above years of experience in the development of renewable energy schemes in the UK industry.

 

In this role, you would be responsible for:

 

> The management of utility scale developments through from inception to the RTB stage before handing over to the construction team.

 

> Management and mentoring of more junior members of the development team, as well as coordination with other internal planning, grid, and engineering teams.

 

> Leading on landowner negotiations including heads of terms, option to lease agreements, and land access rights, as well as maintaining landowner relationships through the project lifecycle.

 

> Ensuring commercial viability of a project including managing budgets, financial models, and keeping projects running to agreed timelines.

 

This role would be suitable for someone with a strong grounding in developing renewable energy projects, who also has exposure to team management and is looking to join up with an industry leader who pair up a strong pipeline with excellent funding and stability.

 

Additional skills that would be useful in this role would be pre-existing experience in NSIP scale developments, as well as an understanding of M&A transactions as this is an area that this company are exploring.

This role sits within a product-focused engineering group responsible for building and scaling data platforms used to monitor, optimise, and improve the performance of wind, solar, and energy storage assets globally. You will work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and platform teams to design and operate high-quality data pipelines that directly underpin operational decision-making and analytics for live energy assets.
