Piper Maddox have been engaged on a Controller opportunity for a public utility.

This utility has an expansive renewable energy portfolio to include geothermal, solar, energy storage, hydro, wind and biomass. They serve over 1 million customers per year, with a long term goal to serve these customers with 100% renewable energy.

They are looking for someone to provide executive leadership oversight to the operations of the accounting organization to include monthly close and management reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the accounting function to include all accounting compliance.
  • Mature accounting function to make sure it is well set up for the future as the portfolio grows and becomes more complex - new systems, process improvements.
  • Ownership of audit - Internal and External POC

Qualifications

  • CPA required
  • Big4 public accounting experience
  • GAAP and SEC Reporting knowledge
  • Previous accounting experience in the utilities/oil & gas/renewable energy industry
  • Leadership/managerial experience
  • Happy to be in office in Nevada 5 days per week

The Origination Manager will manage existing customers, create new customer relationships, and negotiate and execute structured power transactions for development and operating projects, with a particular emphasis on new renewable power products, customers and/or regions. This role will be responsible for building and managing a robust deal pipeline, leading negotiations, and overseeing contract execution with a specific focus on the industrial and data center sectors. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record of success in the renewable energy industry and experience responding to Requests for Information (RFIs). Company Description The company focuses on developing and delivering renewable energy and storage solutions specifically for high energy-demand customers, including: refineries, pumping and compression stations, manufacturing plants, processing plants, and terminals, data centers. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive origination strategy to identify, source, and qualify new opportunities from targeted clients and customers in the industrial and data center sectors, including actively responding to Requests for Information (RFIs). Conduct thorough market research and analysis to stay abreast of industry trends and identify new business opportunities within these specific client segments. Negotiate and structure complex contracts, ensuring favorable terms for the company. Oversee the due diligence process for potential deals. Prepare presentations and reports for senior management on origination activities and performance, collaborating effectively with back office teams.
