We are supporting a fast-growing scale-up in the battery recycling sector that is looking to strengthen its engineering team with a Lead Process Engineer.


This role will focus on the industrialisation of hydrometallurgical recycling processes, ensuring efficient material recovery and refining in a first-of-its-kind plant.


Your role

Lead process design, equipment specification and plant layout for hydrometallurgical operations
Take full ownership of mass and energy balances, driving process efficiency and cost optimisation
Develop and maintain PFDs and P&IDs with strong quality assurance
Carry out risk analyses (HAZOP, FMEA) and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
Provide technical leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary engineering team
Manage tender documents, supplier selection, and technical discussions
Support plant construction, commissioning, and production ramp-up


Your profile

Degree or PhD in process engineering, metallurgy, chemistry, materials science, or related field
8+ years of relevant experience in hydrometallurgy, process engineering, or industrial projects
Strong track record in plant specification, tendering, commissioning, and operation
Proven leadership skills with experience managing engineering teams
Project management experience with focus on cost, time, and resources
Hands-on approach to scaling up processes from pilot to industrial scale
Structured, analytical way of working with strong quality focus
Fluent English; German skills advantageous
